A neo-realist novel to sink into on a cold day trapped in a snow storm while your train is late, very late.

2666 by Roberto Bolano

A huge novel, both old fashioned and new, for a week of holiday with nothing to do but dive into your favorite armchair with a cozy blanket and a cat, if you own one.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Because once you get the hang of Franzen’s new realism, you will get the urge to go back to old school realism.
